Mankind was perfect when God created Adam in the beginning. But sin entered into the picture and destroyed the perfect image of God that was in man. So mankind, in our present condition is unacceptable to God. God can restore you to that perfect fellowship if you depend upon and accept Christ’s death, burial and resurrection as having paid for your sin. Here are some things you must know and do to be saved:
1. Realize you are a sinner. Rom. 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”.
2. Sin is very serious. Someone will suffer for sin. Rom. 6:23 “the wages of sin is death…” (suffering in hell).
3. You must accept that Jesus suffered in your place. 2 Cor. 5:21 “He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”
4. Accept by faith that Jesus paid for your sin. Eph. 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith;....it is the gift of God not of works...” You can not earn a place in heaven. Jesus already made it possible. Why not pray: Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and deserve suffering in hell, but I believe that Jesus paid for my sin. I am putting my faith in that to gain my salvation. I want my life to be different. Amen.
5. Now that you are depending upon Christ’s sacrifice as the payment for your sin you are saved from sin’s penalty. You should want to learn what God makes available for you to change from committing sin and experiencing the problems sin causes. The purpose for the church is to help you see in the Bible how to change from doing wrong to doing right. You need to get into a Bible-preaching church that will help you change and grow.
